UW-Parkside, IndSearch sign exchange agreement
Capping a busy spring semester, UW-Parkside's School of Business and Technology (SBT) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Institute of Cost and Management Studies and Research, better known as IndSearch. The agreement, signed by UW-Parkside Chancellor Lane Earns, SBT Dean Fred Ebeid, and IndSearch Director Ashok Joshi among others, was the fourth such partnership reached with another institution in little more than three months.
The agreement, which will involve the exchange of students and faculty, came more than a decade after initial contacts between the two universities. UW-Parkside Business Professor Jay Sounderpandian first explored the possibility of an alliance with IndSearch in 1998. Professor Sounderpandian's untimely passing put those plans on hold until his colleague Stuart Hansen renewed ties with the Pune, India, school earlier this year. Jay's widow, Latha Sounderpandian, was present for the signing.
IndSearch was established in 1973 by academics and business professionals as an institution devoted to teaching, training, consultancy and research in management and information technology. Affiliated with the University of Pune, IndSearch offers master of business administration degrees in information technology, human resource management, and marketing management.
Prior to signing this exchange, SBT also formalized its connections with the Milwaukee Area Technical College earlier in May, creating the Ranger Track program. In April, UW-Parkside signed a credit transfer agreement with Gateway Technical College , and in February an exchange agreement was signed with Beijing Information Science and Technology University, Beijing, China.
