Strategic Planning Welcome
Colleagues,
As times change, so do all organizations, including universities. In order for a campus to reflect the needs of its internal and external constituencies as well as the synergies that are possible through collective mindset and collaboration, planning is essential. A sound strategic plan charts a course that is grounded in the campus mission. Vision, guiding principles, and strategic directions are crafted collaboratively with goals and action plans to create a means for execution of the plan. Good strategic plans are dynamic and possess a degree of elasticity. Also very importantly, they possess assessments and evaluative measures with timelines. Our plan at UW-Parkside will contain these elements.
The consultant for strategic planning for our campus is Dr. Ann Zanzig. Ann has worked in the Office of Quality Innovation at UW-Madison and has a vast array of successful consulting experiences in strategic plan development at campuses throughout the UW System and across the nation. Her expertise, guidance, and facilitation will keep us on track. I also wish to thank Provost Gerald Greenfield for his fine work chairing the Leadership Team sessions of last spring’s semester.
We are committed to a strategic planning process that is open, transparent and inclusive. This web site has been devised as an avenue of communication. It is where we will post such documents as agendas, minutes and announcements. The Strategic Planning Leadership Team roster is also listed for others to have the opportunity to communicate with a particular team member or group regarding the process. The Leadership Team is comprised students, faculty, staff, and administration at UW-Parkside. Some work groups also include external partners with the university. Together, we seek to create a future of intentionality through quality, collaboration, and collegiality in all we do.
Through the strategic planning process, the intentionality of the future will take shape and we will position our campus for growth and success. We will always adhere to high standards of academic excellence and the foundational tenants of the teaching, research, and service model. Where we go and how we get there will be the essence of the UW-Parkside strategic planning process.
My role is to serve as the communications coordinator for our strategic planning
process. I am excited about our future. Many people have indicated
similar sentiments. Through Chancellor Ford’s campus leadership
and the development of a strong strategic plan, we’re on our way. Please
join us in this very important effort.
Thank you.
