Adventures in Lifelong Learning
ALL is an association of seniors from Southeastern Wisconsin, sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. ALL is committed to reaching out to older learners and providing them with educational, creative, and social opportunities.
Alzheimer’s Association of Southeast Wisconsin – The mission of the Alzheimer’s Association is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. The Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter provides information, education, and support for persons with Alzheimer’s disease, their families, and care givers across an 11-county region. Paulette Kissee, regional services manager, coordinates the Chapter’s services in Kenosha and Racine Counties.
Mentor Kenosha & Racine – Mentor Kenosha & Racine is a community-wide effort spearheaded by UW Parkside's Center for Community Partnerships to support and strengthen mentoring programs in the Kenosha and Racine communities.
Ophelia Project of Southeastern Wisconsin - The Ophelia Project of Southeastern Wisconsin is an organization dedicated to creating a culture that is emotionally, physically and socially sage, where children are respected and nurtured. Through awareness, education and advocacy, the Ophelia Project promotes positive change in families, schools, and communities. By supporting a network of friends, mentors and professionals, The Ophelia Project encourages all children to become confident and healthy.
The mission of Peace Learning Circles is to promote a culture of peace through education to youth and communities. The goal is to provide students with an opportunity to practice conflict resolution, peaceful living skills, and gain increased environmental awareness. Peace Learning Circles host 4th and 5th grade classrooms at its Peace Centers in Kenosha and Racine. In its first year, it taught conflict resolution skills to 450 students. Besides the action-packed, fun-filled field trip, each student is given a peace pledge, a workbook, and the Peace Facilitators visit each classroom for 4 "booster visits." The "boosters" ensure the students are successfully using the skills they were taught.
Showcase of Student Scholarship – This annual event provides an opportunity for UW-Parkside students and faculty to present their academic work through oral presentations, poster displays, gallery exhibits and artistic performances.
Small Business Development Center of Southeast Wisconsin – The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) of Southeastern Wisconsin is designed to assist current and prospective small business owners of Racine & Kenosha counties obtain the services and information needed to succeed.
Wisconsin Campus Compact – a coalition of university and college presidents that seeks to strengthen civic engagement and service-learning partnerships between Wisconsin's postsecondary institutions and the communities they serve. UW-Parkside is proud to serve as WiCC’s administrative home.
