Debra Karp is Director is Director of the Nonprofit Development in the Center for Community Partnerships at UW-Parkside, a program whose purpose is to build capacity in regional nonprofits including arts organizations. She also serves as Director of the Arts Management Program at UW-Parkside. Working as an arts manager for over twenty years, Debra earned her Master’s Degree in Business from the Bolz Center for Arts Administration at the UW-Madison in 1990. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Recently, Debra completed the Diagnostic Clinic Consultant Institute through the Nonprofit Management Fund in Milwaukee qualifying her to conduct in-depth organizational assessments for nonprofits. She has served the boards and advisory committees of several nonprofit organizations in the SE WI region.

Debra has worked with a variety of arts organizations throughout her career including The American Dance Festival in Durham, NC, Center Stage at NC State University in Raleigh, NC, The Wisconsin Arts Board in Madison, The National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, DC, Artsplosure, the Raleigh Arts Festival, Inc. in North Carolina, and Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts in Racine. She has been teaching courses in arts management since 1995, first at UW-Whitewater and currently at UW-Parkside, where she established the Arts Management Minor and Certificate Program in 1999.
