Raising Academic Performance (R.A.P.)
First Year Students on Strict Academic Probation
Raising Academic Performance is a program designed specifically for first year students on strict academic probation. Participation helps strict probation students analyze obstacles to success, set academic goals, increase awareness of campus services, understand probation policies and ultimately return to good academic standing.
First year student on strict academic probation must increase their semester grade point average to a 2.0 by the end of the semester or be dismissed from UW-Parkside. Students on strict academic probation are required to participate in the R.A.P program. First Year Students who earn below a 1.5 GPA are required to:
Attend a RAP Academic Success Workshop. Students on strict academic probation for the first time are required to attend a mandatory RAP Workshop. Students will receive a letter detailing all of therequirements of the program.Workshops will be held at various times before the start of the semester. Fall workshop times can be found below.

Please call the First Year Experience Office (595-2477) between 9a.m. – 4:00p.m. to schedule. Failure to attend the program will result in your fall registration being cancelled.
Review Academic Intervention Self-Assessment worksheet. All students on strict academic probation will be required to complete a Self Assessment worksheet. The Self-Assessment helps you identify behaviors that may have contributed to your probationary status and begin to identity strategies for academic success. The Self-Assessment will be shared with your RAP academic advisor.
Develop an Academic Success Plan with your RAP Advisor. At a meeting with your academic advisor, you will review your Self Assessment and complete the Academic Success Plan.
Use Academic Resources. Participants must use campus resources to increase academic success. Tutoring Center, FYE Academic Workshops and the Counseling Center are a few campus resources which may enhance academic standing. Students will be expected to use the tutoring center and attend academic workshops.
Visit your RAP Academic Advisors. Participants are assigned to work specifically with a RAP Academic Advisors. They are required to meet with their RAP Academic Advisor every three weeks during the semester. They should schedule their first appointment prior to the start of the semester.
