Assistant/Associate Professor, Marketing
The School of Business and Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a full-time position as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Marketing beginning August 2007.
The Undergraduate Business and MBA programs are accredited by the AACSB. The School offers baccalaureate programs in Business, Management Information Systems, and Computer Science. The Business program supports concentrations in accounting, finance, human resource management, marketing and general business. There are approximately 600 business majors and 80 M.B.A. students. The School has 26 FTE faculty and academic staff. Well-known firms such as Daimler-Chrysler Corporation, Case New Holland (CNH), Jockey International, JohnsonDiversey, S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc., and Snap-on, Inc. are located minutes from the University. Other firms such as Harley-Davidson, Johnson Controls, Northwestern Mutual, Abbott Laboratories, and Cardinal Health are located in nearby Milwaukee and Northern Illinois.
Qualifications
Required:Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Marketing. ABD will be considered for a one-year terminal appointment as a Lecturer with conversion to tenure track Assistant Professor if all requirements for the Ph.D. have been successfully completed by June 2008. Applicants must be able to teach sections of undergraduate Introduction to Marketing, Buyer Behavior, and Marketing Research. Candidates are expected to teach other marketing courses in the undergraduate and MBA programs, as needed. Applicants must provide evidence of quality teaching and a commitment to scholarly research. For appointment at the associate rank, the applicant must meet these requirements and provide evidence of an active journal publication record that is commensurate with the department requirements for this rank.
Preferred: Completed doctorate in Marketing from an AACSB accredited institution is strongly preferred. Preference also will be given to candidates that (1) have peer-reviewed journal publications, successful teaching record, relevant business experience, and active community involvement; (2) are familiar with the increasingly diverse demographics of consumers and how increased diversity influences marketing; (3) are familiar with ethical issues in marketing, such as the relationship between marketing, media, diversity, and social justice; and (4) have experience working with students from a variety of economic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds and the use of a variety of pedagogical styles.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate marketing courses, research and publication, and involvement in department, campus, and/or community service.
