Procedures
New Students:
Undergraduate students are sent a housing packet in the mail usually a few weeks after they have been admitted to the University. Assignments are made on a first-come, first-serve basis, so it is to your advantage to send your housing contract and $50 deposit to us as soon as possible. Specific instructions on how to complete the application are included with the packet.
Assignments are made in the early part of the summer, and most students are sent their room assignments and roommate information around the first of July. Contracts received after that time are assigned as time and spaces permit.
Returning Students:
Students who are currently living in the residence halls will be sent information in January regarding the room reapplication process for the following academic year. Students can guarantee the room of their choice by returning a housing and dining contract with a $50.00 deposit during Reapplication Week. Students may sign up for their same room, a different room on the same floor/same apartment, a different room in their present hall, or a different room in either hall. Those students wishing to switch from a double room to a single room can add their name to a lottery drawing based on class rank.
How to Apply
To apply for a room in University Residence Halls, you must submit:
- Residence Hall and Dining Plan Application
- A $50 prepayment/security deposit check, made payable to UW-Parkside.
Once you submit your application, you will receive an email with instructions on how to pay your $50.00 security deposit.
You can do this one of two ways:
Pay on line using your SOLAR account
(note: SOLAR requires your UW-P email user name and password)
- Select Campus Finances
- Select Make a Payment
- Select Payment Method
OR
Send a check or money order to Cashiers Office, 900 Wood Road, Kenosha, WI 53141-2000. Please indicate housing deposit and your student id number on the check.
