Does the idea of trying new food, learning a new dance, speaking another language or talking about global issues intrigue you?
If so, then we have an exciting new opportunity for you! Residence Life and the Center for International Studies are excited to present you with UW-Parkside’s first Living and Learning Community. The Global Village is a community of students who share a common love for all things International.
The purpose of the Global Village Learning Community is to provide a cross-cultural
experience for students interested in broadening their understanding of world
issues and cultures. This concept is strengthened by the expectation
that its residents actively participate in the organization and implementation
of cross-cultural programming. Such an environment serves to further enhance
the building of an inter-culture community.
The Global Village brings together international and domestic students to live and learn in a joint environment. It is an opportunity for students to live and study with students from around the world. The Global Village is ideal for students planning on studying abroad, for international and exchange students, for students studying foreign languages as well as any student who is interested in world affairs.
The exciting Global Village will be housed in our new Suites @ Parkside. The Suites @ Parkside is a coed community with a mix of first-year and upper-class residents. It is a suite style hall with a mix of singles and doubles with loftable furniture.
In addition to the normal room charges, there will be an additional fee of
$100 for the Global Village. This fee will help cover the costs of
special programs and other services unique to the Village. Some of
these special programs may include culture nights, international film screenings,
community service activities, day trips to cultural events in the community
as well as other social outings in the Greater Milwaukee Area and much more.
All students are eligible to live in the Global Village. But as a member
of this community you should:
- Want to meet people from all over the world
- Be interested in learning about other cultures and sharing information about your own
- Bring enthusiasm and curiosity for living and learning in an international community
- Actively participate in the development, design and implementation of various international and intercultural programs of the Global Village
How do I apply? When filling out housing contract, be sure to rank the Global Village as your top choice. Once you have completed the housing application, you will receive an email directly you to complete the International Living Learning Questionnaire.
