Contract Information
CHECK IN/CHECK OUT
Each resident must complete a Room or Apartment Condition Form and return it to their respective Resident Advisor within 48 hours of moving into the Residence Hall. It is important to note any damages on the sheet, since you will be held responsible for all damages not listed. When vacating the room/apartment, you must leave the room/apartment in a clean and neat condition. Failure to check out with a Resident Advisor will result in a $100.00 improper check out charge, plus a lost key charge. If your total damage charges are less than one dollar, a full refund of your security deposit will be processed.
CONSOLIDATION
If a student residing in a double loses a roommate, the student will be sent a consolidation letter and consolidation form. The student has the following options depending on available space:
- Find another roommate within 14 days.
- Pay for a single room and keep the single for the remainder of the semester.
- Accept another roommate or room assignment within their same residence hall from the Residence Life Office.
Any individual who fails to return the consolidation form or refuses to participate in the consolidation process will automatically be billed for a single room.
CONTRACT RELEASE
All requests for release from housing for the spring semester must be made in writing to the Residence Life Office by November 15 th. Release will be made at the end of fall semester only upon graduation, marriage, student teaching, and withdrawal from the university, extenuating financial circumstances, and/or a death in the immediate family.
A contract termination granted for any of the following will subject the resident to a forfeiture of the $50.00 prepayment/security deposit and/or pro-rated charges of rental used: voluntary withdrawal or academic suspension from the university and any termination granted under section 10,B of the Housing and Dining Service Contract.
A Request for Release does not automatically cancel your Residence Hall Contract. So you must await approval for release from the Director of Student Life. You may be assessed up to $250.00 in liquidated damages for contract termination.
WITHDRAWAL
You must notify the office in writing or in person if you are withdrawing from your classes or if you will not be returning to the university for the next semester.
VACATION PERIODS
Individuals wishing to reside in the hall during break periods must register with the Residence Life Office 72 hours prior to the beginning of the break. Individuals violating residence hall or university policies will be asked to vacate their apartment/room for the remainder of the break period.
