University Police reserves the right to refuse a form of payment. Coins in amounts over $1 are not accepted. - If you choose to contest your citation, the appeal form and the $10 fee must be turned in to University Police no more than fourteen (14) days after the citation was issued. You may not appeal the citation after the fourteen days have passed.
- Calling or emailing University Police is not a valid way to contest your citation. Calling or emailing will simply result in an explanation of the appeal process.
- Guidelines for filing an appeal can be found here. You may print and mail the form, but the $10 must be included.
- Your written appeal will be reviewed by the Chief of Police and/or the Parking Appeals Committee, which meets twice a year. If your record shows one or more previously dismissed tickets, your appeal will be automatically forwarded to the Parking Appeals Committee.
- The Parking Appeals Committee is made up of students, faculty, and staff. The UW-Parkside Police Department has no input into the Parking Appeals Committee. A Police Supervisor and Office Manager are present to record the decisions of the committee and to answer any questions.
- Failure to pay within fourteen (14) days of the ticket issuance will result in a doubling of the fine. Citations do not double again.
- Failure to pay within thirty (30) days of the ticket issuance may result in the suspension of your vehicle's registration if you live in Wisconsin. Suspension of registration results in an additional $5 fine.
- If you are a UWP student, University Police has the option to place your student records on hold if fines are not paid within thirty (30) days. This may result in your being unable to register for classes or view your grades.
- Vehicles with four (4) or more unpaid citations are considered chronic violators and are subject to tow. Owners will be required to pay all costs involved in removing and impounding vehicles.
