Fire
- Activate a fire alarm by pulling on an alarm box
- Alert people in the immediate area of the fire
- Evacuate the building immediately; do not use elevators; move at least 300 feet from the building
- Confine the fire by closing doors as you leave
- Notify the UW-Parkside Police at 262-595-2911 or, if outside, use an emergency box (look for the blue light) to report the fire's location and size; always call from a safe location
- Do not re-enter the building until authorized emergency personnel give the “all clear” signal
- If smoke, heat and/or flames block your exit routes, stay in the room with the door closed; stuff the gaps in the door frame with towels or other cloth to keep smoke out of the space; stay close to the floor to avoid heat and smoke
- Signal for help by displaying a brightly colored cloth at the window
- If a telephone or cell phone is available in the room, call 262-595-2911 to alert authorities of your situation
- Report all fires, even those that have been extinguished, to the UW-Parkside police at 262-595-2911
