JOB DUTIES-Police Officer
- Initiate crime prevention measures when possible
- Write clear and concise reports based on daily police activity
- Patrol campus on foot, squad, ATV, or bicycle to ensure the safety and security of all persons and property on the UW-Parkside Campus
- Take proper enforcement action for traffic violations and any other crimes observed
- Must be able to effectively and safely operate an emergency vehicle
- Make criminal arrests and ensure compliance with all laws of the UW Administrative Code and the Wisconsin State Statutes
- Provide basic first aid to victims
REQUIREMENTS-Police Officer
- Candidates must already be certified by the Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) as a Wisconsin Peace Officer
- Possess an Associate degree or a minimum of 60 credits of post-secondary education from an accredited college, university or technical school
- Possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license
- Be at least 21 years old
- Be of good character and possess a good driving record
- No unpardoned adult felony convictions
- No convictions for domestic violence or moral turpitude
- Be free from any physical, emotional or mental conditions which may adversely effect performance as a law enforcement officer
BENEFITS-Full-Time Police Officer
- Salary $18.293/hr-$27.603/hr
- Night differential $.45/hr, weekend differential $.60/hr
- Vacation: 104 hours-216 hours, increases every 5 years
- 9 paid legal holidays each year
- 36 hours personal holiday each year
- Sick leave accumulates at a rate of 5 hours every 2 weeks or 130 hours a year
- Tuition aid: 75% of tuition costs and fees may be reimbursed up to 15 credits per duration of the current contract
- Uniforms and equipment: employer provides all uniforms and equipment including sidearm and bullet proof vest
- Pension: Within Social Security System and the Wisconsin Retirement System
