Rita Thomas has moved! The UW-Parkside Communication major recently left Wisconsin Public Radio in Milwaukee where she was a producer to join Harpo Radio in Chicago. Harpo Radio produces Oprah Winfrey's Oprah and Friends Channel on XM Satellite Radio (XM 156).
Thomas works as a production assistant on several of the channel's talk shows. "I do technical stuff on three, but new shows are being added," she said, still sounding a bit breathless with excitement over the move and this opportunity. That means she gets to work with personalities from "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and "O, The Oprah Magazine" like legendary poet Maya Angelou, money expert Jean Chatzky, fitness guru Bob Greene, "O, The Oprah Magazine" Editor-At-Large Gayle King; and others. No wonder she's breathless!Thomas is from Milwaukee. Along with her Communication major, she completed an Ethnic Studies minor. She also served as a radio host and producer for campus radio station WIPZ-FM. Thomas joined Harpo Radio in September 2007.
