This Wednesday: Science Night looks into thin air

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Science Night series returns Wednesday, Sept. 10, with a look at the most common and most critical factor in our lives: air. Titled "The Air We Breathe," the program features UW-Parkside Geosciences Professor Dr. Patricia Cleary.

What exactly is in the air we breathe? And when does it become hazardous? Should we be wearing a surgical mask? A gas mask? Dr. Cleary will answer these questions and provide general information on atmospheric chemistry, air quality instrumentation, climate issues, and much more.

Dr. Cleary is an atmospheric chemist who studies air quality and urban photochemistry. She received her Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. Her program will be of interest to anyone who breathes.

The Science Night program "The Air We Breathe" with Dr. Patricia Cleary begins at 7 p.m. in room 103 of Greenquist Hall. High school and middle school students and faculty with an interest in math and science are encouraged to attend. Admission is free and refreshments are served. For more information, call (262) 595-2074.
